A fun filled Thursday

Congratulations to the students who received yellow wristbands on Thursday morning. Wristbands are a reward for excellent behaviour and attitude in class, activities and throughout the day. They get awarded every morning.

Congratulations to these students for being given yellow wristbands!

Morning meeting
At lunch time the students came together to celebrate Gaia's birthday. She was given a lovely birthday cake by everyone at Marymount!

Happy Birthday Gaia!

Thursday offered a range of activities for the students after finishing their daily lessons and workshops in English.

For our multi activities the students could choose between horse riding, tennis, finger puppet making and drama.

In drama a mixture of games were taught. There was a game called the "annunciation" game which helps with vocal warm ups. Other games were about choosing one english word at a time to make sentences in a group. It taught the students how to listen to each other and to communicate clearly.

Some students went horse riding, improving on the skills that they learnt from earlier in the week.

Tennis was also taught this Thursday afternoon, by our tennis coach Josh. The students in this group had great fun doing tennis activities and developing their racket skills!

In the art room lots of activity was happening with the finger puppet workshop. Students sat down and drew some designs then continued to cut, sew and add detail to their puppet!

For three days this week, our residential students have been taking part in a club. Today was the last day of the club.

For British Tea Party, the students celebrated by hosting a tea party, cooking scones that they had made from scratch. British scones are always enjoyed with clotted cream, strawberry jam and of course a cup of tea! An extra addition to the tea party was the cucumber sandwiches that Activity Leader Jess had made for her group.

In British Sports, the students were taught a new game, Gaelic football. It is a mixture between football, rugby, volleyball and basketball. The students were taught the rules and given practice before starting a game!

In the last session of Junkyard Music, the class got taught some rhythms and performed them on their handmade instruments, that they designed, created and learnt to play.

After a delicious dinner and some homework, the students at Marymount got dressed up into smart clothes for the evening activity which was "Casino Night."

The aim of the night is to win at as many games as possible resulting in winning some pretend money that gets added up in their colour groups to win a prize. There was a table for the games Blackjack, Higher or Lower, a fortune teller and a fruit machine game.

Congratulations to blue team for managing to win the most "money" and therefore winning a lovely blue Discovery Summer badge to take home.
