Arrival of the Marymount day students.

We have all been looking forward to Monday morning, as this is when our new day students would arrive! They join us at Discovery Summer Marymount at 9am and leave at 5pm. This means that they get to enjoy all of the enriching events that happen throughout the day. Our day students mix with our residential students, so even more friendships have started forming today!

Some colourful welcome games were organised by the Activity Leaders to welcome the day students. Most popular was the large parachute.

The students had their first English classes, helping to improve all areas of english and confidence.

For our multi-activities the students were spoilt for choice for what to choose. We had Unihoc, which is like inside hockey, where they were taught the rules of the game and techniques to become a better player. A popular option as always was the football. Some drills were taught before starting a professional match. Others chose to participate in some drama games and some went over to the art classroom, to learn about "Pointillism," where many dots are painted on top of each other to create vibrant colours.

"Clubs" started today as well! This is where the students chose an activity that will run over three sessions, meaning that lots of detail can go into the project.

Our clubs this week are: British Tea Party, Junkyard Instrument Making and British Sports.

Just when you think that the day could not hold any more excitement, we finished the day with our Harry Potter evening activity. Each student got to wear the Hogwarts Sorting Hat to be sorted into their house. Afterwards we had a range of challenges such as wand making, climbing through a spiders web, wizard duelling and Quidditch.

A big congratulations to everyone in the Ravenclaw team who won the most house points today!
