Grassy parks and a trip to Central London!

On Saturday we said goodbye to some of our students as their journey at Discovery Summer Marymount ended. Thank you to all of those students who made Week One so enjoyable.

We also welcomed to Marymount some new students who are starting their time with us! Whilst the new students were moving into their rooms and getting to know each other, the students who have stayed on to Week Two had an option to go swimming or go for a nature walk in Richmond Park in the Isabella Plantation.

We also celebrated another special birthday last week! Happy birthday to Augustin! We hope you enjoyed the cake!

On Sunday we went on a full day excursion to central London! We started our day at the famous Tower of London. Students got to get up close to the Royal Crown Jewels and all of the Queens crowns. Each group went to visit different parts of history at the Tower of London, including the Tower of Torture, the Blood Tower and the White Tower!

The guards at the Tower of London are called Yeoman Warders. Their other name that most people use is a Beefeater. They are responsible for guarding the Royal Crown Jewels! Some of our students met one on duty and had a photo with him.

Afterwards the students and staff boarded onto a river boat and had a sunny, peaceful and informative tour down the River Thames. A staff member on the boat gave us plenty of information which was fantastic as he pointed out the famous sights to see, such as the Shard, the Tate Modern, St Paul's, the London Eye, the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben to name a few!

Later we had a sunny lunch in St James Park and then we walked to Hamleys, a famous toy shop. Why is it famous? It's famous because it is the oldest and also the largest toy shop in the whole world! In Hamleys there can be found every type of toy you could imagine and there were plenty of staff around the shop giving live demonstrations of certain toys!

Best of all about visiting Hamleys was that the Hamleys bear gave an appearance, giving a fuzzy hug to our students!
